Respiratory side effects of Vituz medication may be mild or severe. Hydrocodone bitartrate, one of the active ingredients in Vituz Oral Solution may cause side effects such as respiratory depression, dryness of the pharynx, trouble breathing, wheezing and occasional tightness of the chest.
The drug may directly act on brain stem respiratory center to produce dose-related respiratory depression, a condition in which an individual’s respiration has a rate below 12 breaths per minute. Intake of higher than the recommended dosage of Hydrocodone bitartrate in adults and its usage in children below 6 years of age may prove fatal. It is advisable to consult your doctor before taking Vituz medication for cough and cold.
Dry mouth or throat is one of the most common Vituz medication side effects. The medication may dry up and thicken the mucus inside your lungs. People with dry lung mucus may have difficulty in breathing and clearing up the lungs.
As a home remedy, it is advisable to drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. To relieve dry mouth, it is advisable to suck on chew gum, sugar candy or ice chip, and honey. Patients may also use saliva substitute in case of emergency.
Serious allergic reactions are rare with Vituz medication. People taking Vituz medication may sometimes have numbness, tingling or pain in the body. In the initial phase of treatment, people have a mild rash. Some people may also experience painful skin rash on the face and upper part of the body. These painful rashes are usually of a reddish color and may cause flaking or peeling of the skin. Mild side effects of Vituz medication include dizziness, drowsiness, trouble concentrating; mood changes, anxiety; blurred vision; constipation, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite; dry mouth or throat; sweating; or mild itching or skin rash.
Vituz medication may cause severe side effects on your brain and spinal cord. Side effects associated with the nervous system include sedation, drowsiness, mental clouding, lethargy, impairment of the mental performance, anxiety, fear, dysphoria (state of feeling unwell or unhappy), euphoria ( feelings of well-being, elation, happiness, excitement, and joy. dizziness, psychic dependence, and mood changes).
Gastrointestinal Side Effects
The gastrointestinal side effects associated with vituz medication include nausea, constipation, upper stomach pain, dry mouth, vomiting, diarrhea and gall bladder disease. The side effect of nausea was reported in clinical trials as mild to moderate in intensity.
