Oseni Side Effects

Oseni, a relatively new addition to diabetes medication is used to regulate blood sugar levels of your body. Several clinical trials suggest that prolonged exposure to the drug may cause serious Oseni side effects that may vary from pain to the development of cancer. Remember there is no way for your doctor to know beforehand if you have will have any problem with medication which you have never tried. Side Effects of Oseni

Heart failure

Oseni, a combination medication contains two products: alogliptin and pioglitazone. Alogliptin works by increasing levels of a natural substance that help to control blood sugar by increasing the release of insulin. Pioglitazone may help your body in fluid retention.
Extra fluid in the body may lead to swelling (edema) and weight gain. Fluid retention by pioglitazone may also lead to serious heart failure, a condition in which your heart does not pump blood to different parts of the body.

Signs and symptoms of heart failure due to fluid retention include difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath; swelling especially in ankle or legs; rapid weight gain; and unusual tiredness. Avoid taking Oseni if you are having serious heart failure. Seek immediate medical attention in case of severe Oseni side effects. Even if the Oseni side effects are not severe, the medication is not right for you.

Pancreatitis

Pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas is one of the most common side effects associated with Oseni. Alogliptin, one of the medicines in Oseni, is the root cause of Pancreatitis. Sign and symptoms of Pancreatitis include nausea and vomiting; swollen and tender abdomen; fever; and increased heart rate.

Patients may also experience pain in the upper abdomen that may radiate into the back. People having a previous history of gall stone, alcoholism, kidney problem and liver problem should inform the doctor before stating Oseni medication.

Liver Problem

Oseni medication may also cause severe problems for your liver. The sign and symptoms of the liver problems include pain or swelling in the stomach; unusual and unexplained fatigue, dark colored urine and loss of appetite. Patients may also suffer from jaundice, a disease characterized by yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. Consult your doctor if your skin has turned yellow or any of the above symptoms persists.

Allergic Reactions

Allergic reactions are very common side effects of Oseni. People taking Oseni medication may sometimes have numbness, tingling or pain in the body. In the initial phase of treatment, people have a mild rash. Some people may experience severe skin allergic reactions which are accompanied by itching or swelling on the face, tongue or throat; fever, difficulty in swallowing or breathing; and hives.

Some people may also experience painful skin rash on the face and upper part of the body. These painful rashes are usually of a reddish color and may cause flaking or peeling of the skin. The symptoms can be reversed by the discontinuation of Oseni medication. Call your health care provider immediately in case of severe allergic reactions.

Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia, low blood sugar is another severe Oseni side effect. The mediation itself does not cause side effects. However, hypoglycemia occurs when Oseni is taken in combination with another anti-diabetic medication such as sulfonylurea or insulin. Talk to your healthcare provider about all your diabetic medication before taking Oseni.

Signs and symptoms of low blood sugar include shakiness or jittery feeling; change in mood, such as irritability; sudden sweating, fast heartbeat, hunger, blurred vision, dizziness and tingling in hands and feet. Patients having hypoglycemia should carry sugar/glucose tablets to increase the level of blood sugar in the body.

In case you don’t have a tablet and you are experiencing any of the above symptoms then you can immediately take sugar candy, honey, or nondiet soda. Hypoglycemia mainly occurs due to the consumption of fewer calories, or unusually heavy exercise or consumption of alcohol. Eat your food regularly. Consult your doctor in case of severe symptoms.

Bladder Cancer

People taking Oseni have a higher risk of developing bladder cancer. Signs and symptoms of bladder cancer include an increased need to urinate; pain while urinating and blood or red color while passing urine. Such severe Oseni side effects should be immediately reported to your health care provider.

Cold symptoms

Oseni side effects also include cold-like symptoms which are accompanied by runny or stuffy nose and sore throat; and back pain. Consult your doctor before taking any cold medication along with Oseni. A doctor may help you with your problem.

Ovulation leading to pregnancy

Ovulation, a release of the egg from an ovary is another severe side effect. The condition appears in women who do not have regular monthly periods while taking Oseni medication. This may increase the chance of getting pregnant.
